TEACHER OF THE WEEK
Ms. Mary Estrada, 1st grade

Hi, Roberts community! My name is Mary Estrada, and I have been at Roberts for 14 years teaching 1st grade. I earned a business degree from the University of Texas at Austin and worked in the financial industry in marketing and training and development. My teaching career all started when I volunteered in my daughter’s kindergarten class at Poe Elementary. I was fortunate enough to be offered a first-grade teaching position there. Now almost 20 years later, I am still teaching. I absolutely love teaching first graders, who are naturally curious about the world, and watching them grow as readers, writers, mathematicians, and IB learners. I value my team, the students, and the Roberts community. My husband Robert and I have two children, Chloe and Alex, who bring me tremendous joy. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, trying out new coffee bars and restaurants, reading books, going to musicals, relaxing in the pool and traveling in the summer. I love Roberts and look forward to several more years of teaching.

STUDENT-LED CONFERENCE AND PORTFOLIO PICNICS (1ST–5TH GRADES)

May 21–23, 2024

Roberts' annual Portfolio Picnics offer a chance for students to share their IB portfolios and reflections on the school year with parents and loved ones. Please make a date with your child and bring a picnic lunch and blanket to share together on the front lawn of Roberts. This is a special opportunity for parents and their children to eat lunch together and review the students' IB portfolios. We are hoping every parent will be able to attend this very special event! We are also offering one evening Portfolio Picnic on Thursday, May 23 from 5:45 P.M. to 6:45 P.M. If you have multiple children, we encourage you to attend the evening picnic!

All parents must RSVP to attend. Please complete this form by May 17.

Picnics take place over your child's lunchtime. Please refer to the table below and sign up for either Block A or Block B.
