EAGLE NEWS

President's Note

Hello Parents and Guardians!

We have made it more than halfway through the school year- it truly seems to be flying by!

As we enter the season of electing PTA officers and securing committee chairs for the 2024-2025 school year, I want to thank all who are currently volunteering your time in one of these many roles.  You are appreciated and valued!   From working in the school, to planning class parties, supporting our staff appreciation activities, buying Evergreen spirit-wear, helping our wonderful librarians, building a stage for our 5th Grade moving-up ceremony, helping in the cafeteria, planning Before School Enrichment and Running Club, brining back our Reflections Program ….and so much more….it makes a difference!  THANK YOU – We could not do it without you!

Spring is an exciting time for our PTA as we look forward to hosting our annual 4th & 5th grade dance on Friday, March 22nd and a new event- our Eagle Community Night on March 26th at 5:30 pm.

Together we CAN do a lot.

GO EAGLES!

Thank you,

Sarah Werner-Ellis

PTA Meeting Information

Our PTA believes that families are one of the essential ingredients we need to ensure a high-quality education and experience for every student at Evergreen Elementary. That is why this year, we are bringing back in-person PTA meetings, and to make our meetings more engaging, we are aligning each monthly meeting with a family-friendly program, guest speaker, or school event. We want everyone to feel welcome and be able to attend these important meetings and events. Children are welcome to attend, and we will have games, books, and other items to help entertain them; however, we ask that parents/guardians remain responsible for their children in attendance. Remember… ALL parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend monthly PTA meetings. You do not need to be a PTA member to attend a meeting, but we hope you will become a PTA member because increased membership will help us to build a stronger Evergreen Elementary Community. Below is a list of our meetings for this school year. We hope to see you!

March 26 @ 6 pm- PTA Meeting & Guest Speaker TBD

April 23 @ 6 pm- PTA Meeting & 5th Grade Talent Show @ 6:30 pm

May 28 @ 6 pm- PTA Meeting/Elections & Middle School Information & Preparation Panel @ 6:30 pm

Colleen Rust, Logan Carter and Samantha Saul at nominating@eepta.com.

Become a Volunteer…Why YOU should get involved!

As you can see, we are a busy group.  This is where you can come in!  We need your help, and so do your children.  Over 500 independent studies on parent involvement show that when parents get involved in their children’s education grades go up, test scores improve, and they have fewer discipline problems. Get involved TODAY! Please consider signing up to be a PTA Committee Chair for the 2024-2025 school year and help make a difference in your student’s educational experience!

Mileage Club Update

Hello Parents!

Mileage Club is coming back! We start running on March 13 and March 15. We have many random schedule changes in the Spring due to Spring Break and other Holidays - please follow the EEPTA Facebook for the updates and let me know if you know someone not getting emails.

As a reminder this is the current leaderboard! (Note - at the end of the year this will be broken out more and normalized for days ran. For this update, I'm just updating everyone on the most miles ran by grade. This is not how the final will necessarily shake out, but is a good indication!)

Overall:

1. Jeppe Keller - with 45 miles!

2. Oliver Forster - with 42.50 miles!

3. Chris Cin - with 40.75 miles!

First place by grade:

K - Kai Dean - 16.75 miles

1 - Daniel Ansell - 25.5 miles

2 - Garrett Harmeyer - 20.75 miles

3 - Lillian Buchholz - 16.38 miles

4 - Iylee Ansell - 22.37 miles

5 - Jeppe Keller - 45 miles

We will work on a firm date for our end of year celebration and communicate that as soon as we have the date finalized! See you soon!

Join the EEPTA Membership for the 2023-24 School Year

For only $7 (or $14 for a family membership) you can help support the Evergreen Elementary PTA.

The EEPTA serves as a forum where parents, teachers, administrators, staff, and other concerned adults discuss ways to promote quality education, strive to expand the arts, encourage community involvement, and work for a healthy environment and safe neighborhoods. Becoming a member of the PTA shows that you want to help support the programs and events that help enhance students' experiences at our school. It does not obligate you to attend the PTA meetings or volunteer. While we would love for everyone to attend, we understand families are busy during the school year and have other important commitments. Minutes are available and posted online for you to review. However, attending meetings and volunteering at any of the several PTA sponsored events provide opportunities to meet other parents. Always feel free to contact us if you have any ideas, suggestions, or comments.

For membership questions please reach out to our membership chair at membership@eepta.com.

Volunteer Opportunities
March Cafeteria Volunteers

Volunteers are needed during the lunch times for each grade at Evergreen. Helping during lunch includes assisting the kids open packages, getting condiments/napkins or simply answering questions. Volunteering in this way really helps the teachers be able to have an actual lunch break. You can sign up for your child’s grade and stay to help out other grades if you would like! It is a very flexible volunteer opportunity! You simply check in at the front office as usual, and then grab a volunteer apron and start helping out the kids!

Please click hereto sign up.

We look forward to seeing you at lunchtime!

Thanks for volunteering!

Watch D.O.G.S. is Back!

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is back. This year there has also been a change to include Watch M.O.M.S (Moms of Marvelous Students). We would like to invite our dads, moms, granddads, grandmoms, uncles, aunts and other role models of our students to join us and volunteer to spend a half day here at Evergreen. Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) and Watch M.O.M.S (Moms of Marvelous Students) is a National program designed to get positive role models to volunteer in the school ONE DAY a year in order to inspire child(ren) in our school. ONE DAY is all it takes to make a huge difference. But we're pretty sure you'll enjoy yourself so much you'll be ready to sign up more than once.

We ask that you only sign up a maximum of 2 times to start so that everyone who would like can have an opportunity to join us. You will be scheduled to support classrooms and will be in your students room at least for part of the day. You can sign up for a morning or afternoon slot. We will request that you arrive a little early so that we can get you signed in to volunteer. We are providing 2 spots a day to create more opportunities to come in and support our students. We will begin October 16th, so we hope to see many of you here. Feel free to email Mrs. Davis at summer_davis@ccpsnet.net if you have any questions.

Volunteers Needed

Evergreen Elementary PTA plans many educational and social events for the children throughout the school year.  The PTA Volunteer Program is one of the best ways that parents can support the students and staff at our school. We know that parents today juggle very busy schedules and the Evergreen Elementary PTA strives to offer many opportunities in ways each of you can help.

Please click here to review the brief descriptions of each volunteer area and indicate your preliminary interests. Your contact information will then be forwarded to the PTA board member or committee chair that is pulling together that activity and they will be in touch with you.

Thanks for volunteering!
