Getting an iPad as music instructional technology for my classroom and rehearsals will help to give my students important examples of music that can be found in my digital library and my subscribed streaming services.
It allows me to project abstract concepts and visually represent them on our Promethean board.
Manipulating the score on a large iPad from the podium is a seamless way to show the analysis of what they are hearing. It demonstrates how to annotate and mark music so that students can reinforce those concepts when practicing at home. Putting scores on the board helps students who are visual learners and thus gives me another way to provide instruction that better serves all my students.
Having an iPad in the classroom allows them to access my library of iOS music apps which have become a regular part of music education, professional preparation, and performance. When I use an iPad in class and put it on the board, my students get an example of how music technology aids their learning for my ensembles and beyond. Today’s metronomes, accompanying software, tuners, recording software, sight reading, and theory tools are all on smart devices and it is helpful for them to have someone aiding them in their use.
The goal of this project is to allow me to maximize learning and rehearsal time and I believe this will be a major part of accomplishing it. Thank you!
