Chess Club regular meetings are held on Mondays at 7:30 AM in the Media Center (grades 3-5) and Science Lab (K-2). The first meeting will be Oct. 3. At the club meetings, we split into small groups, do a short lesson (5-10 minutes), and students play games against each other for about 20 minutes with some light coaching.
Last year we had a successful experiment accepting K-2 students who already have a demonstrated interest in the game.
There will be occasional tournaments which are generally on Saturdays. At tournaments, the games are completely silent, so these are appropriate for students who are ready to play a whole game without talking.
