Dear Parents,

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, The Bronxville School remains committed to a safe in-person learning environment for all students and employees.

One way to help achieve this is to coordinate with Westchester County to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in school and to keep one another safe. This is especially important given the rise of highly contagious variants.

As part of this effort, The Bronxville School is pleased to announce that we, along with schools across Westchester County, are partnering with Westchester County Department of Health’s testing partners Mount Sinai Health System, Inc. and C-19 Safety First, to offer the County’s FREE COVID-19 screening testing program.

The program relies on two testing strategies:
Voluntary initial “gateway” testing of all students and employees
Voluntary weekly random testing of 20% of all students and employees

The method will allow early detection of COVID-19 in pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic individuals. Early detection means we can better stop the virus from spreading in school. Preventing school outbreaks is key to ensuring our school stays open to provide in person education and support of our children.

All students and employees are highly encouraged to participate in this free, school based COVID-19 screening testing program. The program will use non-invasive, self-collected saliva samples that are appropriate and painless for all ages. Samples will be processed using accurate and reliable PCR analysis - the gold standard of COVID-19 testing - to identify positive cases.

Please read and complete the attached consent forms for each school age child in your home (or for yourself if you are an employee). In order to participate in the initial “gateway testing” of all students and employees, we encourage you to consent by Wednesday, October 13th. Otherwise, you can consent at any point for enrollment in the weekly 20% screening testing program. Once you consent, we will be in touch with more details regarding the testing program.

Please note that any unvaccinated employee is REQUIRED by the NYS Department of Health to be tested every week.

Thank you,
