The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) Thanksgiving project has been a success for over 35 years due to the generosity of our Toll Gate families. Covid has led to increased food insecurity in the community and the soup kitchen expects to be serving more families than ever before. They are counting on our donations to make their Thanksgiving dinner a success.
Please see below for the list of targeted food drive items. A donation station will be available outside of Toll Gate before and after school on November 17, 18 & 19.
PLEASE NOTE: We are aware of shortages of certain items due to the ongoing supply chain issues. Feel free to substitute as noted below. Alternatively, a cash donation is always welcome.
REQUESTED DONATIONS PER STUDENT BY GRADE:
Pre-K: (2) 24 oz.PLASTIC jars of UNSWEETENED applesauce
KINDERGARTEN: (2) 24 oz. PLASTIC jars of UNSWEETENED applesauce
1ST GRADE: (6) boxes Stove Top CORNBREAD Stuffing mix
2ND GRADE: (8) 10.5 oz CANS of TURKEY GRAVY (**no glass jars, please)
***Please feel free to substitute boxes or cans of turkey or chicken stock
3rd GRADE: (6) 14.5 oz cans whole kernel corn
4th GRADE: (6) cans of cranberry jelly
***Please feel free to substitute any type of canned cranberry sauce
5th GRADE: (6) 14.5 oz cans of cut GREEN BEANS
TURKEYS: Please indicate below whether you are able to donate a FROZEN turkey. Frozen turkeys may be dropped off at Toll Gate before or after school on November 17, 18 & 19.
PIES: While we are unable to bake pies at Toll Gate this year, we are offering families the opportunity to bake our famous Sweet Potato Pies AT HOME! Details and recipe to follow. Please indicate below if you are interested in participating. Pies can be dropped off at Toll Gate on November 22 & 23.
MONETARY DONATIONS: Finally we will be collecting monetary donations to supplement any shortfalls in our food collection and make a cash donation to TASK. Please consider sending a cash donation in any amount or a check made payable to TGG PTO in an envelope marked "TASK 2021."
